Whether you're a seasoned adventurer looking for an off-the-beaten
track place to camp for a while or you simply fancy experiencing some
of the very special Cambodian island treasures on a day trip, we've
got something for you!
Either way, your experience begins with a pickup at Serendipity Pier
(8am) or Otres Beach (8:30am) in "Arundrea", our traditional Khmer
vessel that has been converted to a comfortable cruising boat. You'll
enjoy breakfast on board while we cruise through an archipelago to
reach the west coast of Koh Ta Kiev by mid-morning. We drop anchor
near a coral reef where you can explore the sparkling waters with a
snorkel & mask or stay aboard the boat and catch some reef fish or
squid. Shortly before midday we round the island to a large secluded
and deserted beach - this is our favorite place to swim and enjoy the
scenery and solitude…
For lunch, we visit a traditional Khmer floating fishing village on
the east coast of the island. Crab, fish and squid is taken straight
from the moored fishing boats and cooked using traditional Cambodian
spices for a culinary treat you will write home to Mum about!
(Vegetarian meals are available on request). Explore the village, sing
karaoke or fish off the balcony while we await our freshly prepared
lunch.
With satisfied tummies we cruise to the northern coast of the island
to a beautiful protected cove where we start a 30-minute trek through
the jungle to our camp site on the west coast of the island (trek is
optional – you can take the boat if you prefer). While in the jungle
we may spot some of the native wildlife including jungle cats, horn
bills, monkeys, snakes and various other forest creatures.
We emerge at our camp site in time for a swim before our Day Trippers
reluctantly leave the campers at around 4pm. We enjoy a sunset drink
on board as we cruise through more islands whilst heading back to the
mainland to arrive around 5.30pm.
For those staying on the island the camping experience begins. If you
hired one of our tents, it will already be set up for you and includes
a mattress and pillows so you can stash your bags and concentrate on
relaxing. For the more self-sufficient campers just find your favoured
spot, set up camp and join your fellow campers for some relaxing
sunset beers!
Awaken to the sound of the waves lapping the sand and have a
refreshing swim or take a stroll along the beach before enjoying a
freshly cooked breakfast at the campsite. The day is then yours to
enjoy - relax or take part in some of the activities that you didn't
have time for the day before. Go fishing, explore some ruins, trek
through the jungle, swim in the fresh water lake or take a kayak and
explore the surrounding islands.
'Arundrea' departs at around 4pm for the return cruise to the mainland
– or you can miss the boat and stay another night... The choice is
yours!
