Enjoy Cambodian island life at its most…. Cambodian. Koh Rong Samloem is a tropical island a two-hour boat ride from Sihanoukville on the mainland, and a world away in culture. Sihanoukville, or Kampong Som, is a fast-developing seaside resort where travelers can enjoy all the amenities you would expect, but at the cost of losing a lot of its core Khmer identity. M’pay Bay on Koh Ron Samloem offers a glimpse of traditional Cambodian island life, and the opportunity to contribute to the organic growth of a community solely dependent on the sea for its existence. Now, Village M’pay Bei (literally translated, Village 23) has another source of income: you, the guests at M’pay Bay, can enjoy the refreshments and hospitality offered by an increasing number of eco-tourism amenities in the village. Or you can simply chill in the tranquility of what one guest called “a true paradise”….

Accommodation Each bungalow offers a bed with mosquito net, open style wardrobe unit, en suite shower/toilet, fan, lights and a power point (electricity available from around 6pm until about midnight). Outside, there is a veranda, with a hammock for those idle moments, and a table with a couple of chairs, to sit and maybe enjoy a little light refreshment while you take in the beauty of the bay through the light fringe of trees edging the shoreline. For those on a tighter budget, we now offer tent accommodation, set back from the bungalows in tastefully cleared and secluded “pods”, each with a mattress and a nearby hammock, and with shared shower/toilet facilities. As for cost, the bungalows are $20 per night and the tents are $5 single and $7 double. Contact information: Phone: 016596111 or 016223469 |
